Who We Are

Boy Scout Troop 474 offers a year-round adventure-based program designed to offer and encourage effective character, citizenship, and fitness training for boys age 11-18. We welcome all Scouting-age boys whether or not they have been part of scouting.

In addition to camping, Scouts and adult leaders enjoy activities such as hiking, backpacking, kayaking, community service, and more while accommodating the needs of today's busy families.

Troop History

Our Troop was founded in 1961 by the First United Methodist Church.  Today we continue to meet at our local FUMC, but we are chartered by the VFW Post 2805.

Since our Troop was established, we have had over 70 scouts earn the rank of Eagle. Our Eagle projects have helped schools, churches, and charities in our local area.

Scout Outings & Events

Troop 474 has an event every month. Past outings have included hiking, camping, backpacking, biking, museums and community service projects. We have regular events such as snow sports in Big Bear and backpacking in Death Valley.

Each summer we attend a week-long summer camp, past summer camps have included Emerald Bay on Catalina Island, Camp Three Falls and Camp Whitsett.

Every 3 to 4 years, our Scouts are privileged to attend one of BSA's High Adventure Bases, Philmont Ranch.  Philmont Treks are hiking adventures that can span up to two weeks which cover many miles of this storied ranch in the state of New Mexico.
